The Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary is well exposed on the beach of Bidart (4km south of Biarritz). A 20cm thick Iridium rich level of black shales separates the grey Maestrichian limestone (on the bottom) and the white Danian limestones (on the top). The K-T transition seems to be continuous.
