Active fault creep on the Calaveras fault in central Hollister has displaced this concrete retaining wall, sidewalk, and curb. The fault has multiple strands creeping through the town at rates of 7 to 10 mm/yr, with the overall slip rate for the fault at 15 – 18 mm/yr of right-lateral slip, trending roughly NW-SE.
