Metaturbidites of Neoproterozoic age from the junction of the Cambrian Kaoko and Damara Mobile Belts, Lower Ugab area, Namibia. A sandstone layer in the centre is boudinaged during a first phase of regional deformation in the Cambrian, associated with activity of the NS trending Kaoko Belt between the Rio de la Plata and Congo cratons. Boudin necks were filled with blocky calcite. The layers above and below this structure are folded by regional D3, associated with activity in the EW trending Damara Belt. Boudinage predates folding, since boudin necks can be seen to be folded as well. Width of view 1.5m. North is to the left in this photograph. PhotoID78
